Following a recent string of new releases, the MERIDIAN Data Analytics team is ready with yet another software product, specviz.js, a small lightweight javascript plugin for visualizing spectrograms in web applications. You can find it in our GitLab repository or download it directly from here.

specviz.js was developed with the intention to quickly load already pre-computed spectrograms. This brings two major benefits:

  • Makes it the ideal plugin for the situations in which you already have a large collection of pre-computed spectrograms and wish to quickly visualize some examples
  • Allows you to use your own spectrogram computation method either locally or in a remote server, rather than being restricted to use a predefined computation method enforced by the plugin

Along with our other projects, it is licensed under the GNU GPLv3 license and therefore it is freely available for anyone to use and modify.

If you wish to contribute, check out the ‘Contributing’ section on the project repository and have a look at the upcoming feature to see if you wish to help with any of those.

As a final note, we already have a couple more functionalities in the pipeline, including the ability to make annotations as time-frequency boxes, a sound player to accompany the visualization, and more!
